The Avalon Star Spangled Banner Experience at The Van Andel Arena!
We were asked by the Grand Rapids Griffins to sing the Star Spangled Banner before their game at The Van Andel Arena! We’re so excited about this performance opportunity, it will be so much fun.
When: Saturday, February 28, 2026 (game starts at 7pm arrival details TBA)
Where: Van Andel Arena, 130 Fulton St W, Grand Rapids, MI
Cost : $50 includes 2 tickets to the game and an Avalon Music Academy T-shirt to wear at the performance. Extra tickets will be available through Avalon at a discounted rate.
This fun project is open to all currently enrolled Avalon students (Dance, Music & Theater). We will have singers, instruments, and dancers.
To get started:
1. Sign up HERE or at the office.
2. Music, lyrics, and a rehearsal track above.
3. If you are going to sing, work on memorizing the words:
Oh say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming
Whose broad stripes and bring stars through the perilous fight
O'er the ramparts we watching were so gallantly streaming
And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air
Gave prove through the night that our flag was still there
Oh say does that Star Spangled Banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave
4. If you are going to play an instrument, let your music teacher know & they’ll start practicing the music with you.
5. If you are going to dance, we will be in touch regarding choreography & rehearsals.
Weekend rehearsals will begin after winter break. Rehearsals will last for 30 minutes. Students need to be at 2 rehearsals and one of the final run-throughs on the weekend of February 21.
